STAT 420 Multivariate Analysis
(Stat 420 Multivariate)

This course aims at introducing students to both theoretical and practical bases of the analysis of multivariate data. The course covers a broad range of methods, while attempts to strike a balance between students’ understanding of the theoretical bases and their ability to properly handle practical issues.  Special emphases are put on preparing the data for analysis, selecting the method(s) appropriate for a particular research problem, understanding and checking the underlying assumptions, interpreting the results, and validating the conclusions.  The students will learn how to use the statistical packages Stata and SPSS to perform the analysis.
