Assalamu `alaykum,

Mondialogo is an international organization that aims to promote intercultural dialogue and exchange.  Their website is http://www.mondialogo.org/

They are giving 30 awards to engineering student teams who propose practical high-quality engineering projects for the benefit of local communities in developing countries.

Each team should actively engage with international cooperation over a six-month period, from December 2006 to May 2007. Each team consists of two groups, each from a different country.  There are many teams who need partners from other countries.  These groups have suggested project ideas but they need collaboration.  A list of the proposed projects with contact information can be found at the site. Unfortunately, they aren't many groups from Egypt.

The goals of the project should address the UN Millenium Development Goals, which are:

1. Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger
2. Achieve universal primary education
3. Promote gender equality and empower women
4. Reduce child mortality
5. Improve maternal health
6. Combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases
7. Ensure environmental sustainability
8. Develop global partnerships for development

I sincerely hope that some of Cairo University students can either participate with one of the proposed projects from other countries or propose a project on their own.

Dr. Seif
